Madang Adventure example program

DAY 1
Arrive to Port Moresby and meet our staff upon arrival. You will be assisted for transfer to Hotel/Guest house.

DAY 2
After an early breakfast depart towards Madang. Upon arrival you will be met by the trip leader. After settling in a guesthouse, you will have the chance to tour Madang town with your guide.

DAY 3
Your day begins early with a 4-wheel drive ride to your first stop, Banu. Breakfast will be enjoyed in Banu and the ride continues to Wara Mambu on a dug out motorized canoe. After 3 hours of canoeing you will arrive at Wara Mambu. During your trip, you will get to see and experience village lifestyle along the Ramu River. You will spend the rest of the afternoon visiting animals in mini zoos around the “campus” in the thick virgin untouched forest and observe the diverse tropical flora and fauna in the natural forest “garden”. You can also witness local traditional wooden plate and spoon making process, traditional fire making process and other traditional survival lifestyle activities. Dinner will be accompanied by a traditional cultural dance .Finally you retire to locally built huts and rest peacefully until day break.

DAY 4
The day begins early at sunrise. Prepare yourself. Put on your trekking gear. Baggage will be carried by the carriers. You will get to trek some of the steepest gorges and mountains in your life, but at the same time be prepared to capture images of some very rare species of birds, opossums, cassowaries, wild dogs, flora and fauna. This part is ideal especially for trackers with botanical interest. Walking through the virgin forest for five to six hours will take you to your first rest area. Here you may rest and enjoy a refreshing dip in the nearby streams. Take your binoculars and cameras out for afternoon birds watching. You may also observe the different species of animals in the mini-zoos established by the traditional landowners. During dinner you will see a cultural dance performance called Kokomo. Retire to simple village hut built by the locals and rest for the night.

DAY 5
After an early breakfast you will put on the trekking gear and get prepared for a walk in rugged mountain scenery. The second rest area will be reached after trekking for six hours. However, this will pay off with the site of most beautiful scenic tropical untouched forest vegetation you have ever seen in your life. Before the sundown you will have another spectacular bird watching opportunity. You may also visit mini-zoos established by the traditional landowners. After dinner you may retire to simple local build hut and rest.

DAY 6
After breakfast you will trek for five to six hours through the ridge of the highest mountain in Jimi valley known as mountain Oipo. Rest a while, take your binoculars and cameras for bird watching. In addition to the breathtaking scenery, you will have a chance to walk to the nearby water fall. After dinner you may retire to a simple locally built hut and rest.

DAY 7
The day will begin by trekking down to Jimi River and walking across a cane bridge. You hop in the waiting 4-wheel drive and join civilization. Next stop will be 3 hours laters in Banz, which is the nearest town. From Banz you will continue the travel for another 2 hours to Mount Hagen. Check into a local lodge, have a warm shower and rest peacefully until day break. Thank you for your track adventurer with Ramu Bismark Track Adventure.

DAY 8
You will be escorted to Hagen airport where you will board a flight to Port Moresby. While arriving to Port Moresby you will either continue to a connecting flight or accommodate with our assistance to a hotel/guesthouse.
